Parents Horizon is a nonprofit advocate, resource hub, and letter-writing community for fathers navigating separation from their children.
A handcrafted postcard carrying a father's coastal memory — storms, shelter, and a shell named after someone loved.
A treasure hunt, a crayon map, and a smooth stone that still sits on a desk. A story of following your child's lead.
The same beloved shore story in our classic layout — dune-edge oak, rain on a canopy, and a shell found on the walk home.
Parents Horizon began with a simple, painful truth: thousands of fathers across this country are separated from their children through custody disputes, family court proceedings, and the complex machinery of family law — and many of them feel invisible.
We exist to change that. Not by pretending the legal system is simple, and not by offering false hope — but by standing beside fathers with real information, real advocacy, and a real community that understands what they're going through.
We believe that a father's love deserves to reach his child, even when the road to do so is long. Sometimes that means navigating a courthouse. Sometimes it means putting pen to paper and sending a letter that says: I am here. I love you. I am not giving up.
I didn't know how to explain to my eight-year-old why I wasn't there every morning. So I started writing. One letter a month, every month. My daughter told me years later she kept every single one in a shoebox under her bed.
— Marcus, father of two, North CarolinaInspired by the beautiful simplicity of letter-writing communities like The Flower Letters, we created a space where fathers can send handwritten (or printed) letters and short stories directly to their children — pieces of themselves that travel across distance, across custody schedules, and across time.
We help fathers write, format, and send meaningful letters and short stories to their children — creating a paper trail of love that children can hold onto forever.
Plain-language guides on custody rights, court filings, and family law — written by legal volunteers who believe fathers deserve access to clear information.
Essays, news, and stories that shine a light on parental alienation, family court reform, and the lived experience of fathers fighting to stay present.
Connections to pro bono attorneys, volunteer paralegals, and legal aid organizations who offer support to fathers who cannot afford representation.
Inspired by the idea that letters are permanent in a way that phone calls are not, our letter program gives fathers a simple, structured way to stay present in their children's lives — even when custody arrangements make physical presence difficult.
You write it. We help you format and send it. Your child receives an envelope addressed just to them — a tangible sign that their father is thinking of them, telling a story, sharing a moment.
Letters can include short illustrated stories, drawings, memories of the child, favorite jokes, life lessons, or simply the words: I love you and I am proud of you.
Write Your First LetterDear Sophie,
I want to tell you about the summer your grandfather taught me to fish. We woke up before the sun did, and the whole lake was covered in mist like a secret...
I keep thinking about teaching you the same thing one day. I can picture you — impatient, laughing, dropping the pole the second a fish tugs.
I am thinking of you every single day.
Family court is complicated. We don't pretend otherwise. But we believe every father deserves to understand his rights and options — clearly, without a law degree.
Plain-language guides on custody types, visitation rights, and what courts consider when determining parenting plans.
Templates and guidance for keeping records of communications, visitation schedules, and incidents — all of which matter in court.
Our volunteer directory connects fathers with pro bono attorneys, legal clinics, and family law advocates by state.
Even during the legal process, our letter program ensures your child knows you are present — and that you are not giving up.
Parents Horizon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by fathers, family advocates, and family law volunteers who believe the system too often leaves good fathers behind.
We are not a legal firm. We do not give official legal advice. What we give is something equally important: access to information, connection to resources, a community that does not judge, and a letter-writing program that keeps the bond between a father and his child alive while the hard work of the legal process unfolds.
Every blog post we publish, every resource we create, and every letter we help a father send is done by volunteers who believe in this work. We take no advertising. We charge no fees. We are here because the need is real — and because a child who knows their father loves them is more likely to become a thriving adult.
The research is clear: children who maintain a meaningful relationship with both parents do better — emotionally, academically, socially. Fighting for that relationship isn't just a father's right. It's one of the most important things a parent can do.
— From our founding statementWe need writers, legal professionals, web volunteers, social workers, and people who simply care. If you've been through the family court system, your story and your knowledge are exactly what another father needs to hear.
